Chipmunk, feeder and example in line-up for middlesbroughs intro festival – gazette live
HOW this for an Example of a cracking day of music?
Dance floor filler Example is among a clutch of big names set to play the main stage at the newly-named Intro festival.
The London-born rapper and singer will close the stage at this summer’s festival in Middlesbrough.
Indie idols Feeder, New Yorkers Fun Lovin Criminals, and chart-topping rapper Chipmunk are all also on the bill for Sunday, June 5.
The festival was previously known as Middlesbrough Music Live and organisers say it’s their best-ever line-up.
Graham Ramsay, of promoters Ten Feet Tall, said: «Feeder are a band with 20 hit singles and the festival is all about putting bands like them next to people like Example and emerging acts.
«I’m proud of it and I think it will be a great event.»
Other names revealed today include Specials legend Neville Staple, and emerging acts such as Dot Jr, Wolfgang, Kassidy, and hotly-tipped grime MC Wretch 32.
Further names will soon be revealed – with an exclusive announcement to come in Friday’s Gazette What’s On supplement.
«I think it’s the best main stage line-up we have ever had,» added Graham.
This year’s festival will feature nearly 100 acts.
As previously reported, a ticket charge is to be introduced for the first time to enable the not-for-profit festival to keep running. The first 5,000 tickets will be priced at f9.50 for adults or f2 for accompanied under-13s, until the end of April.
An early bird family is also available – for one adult and upto two children aged 7-12 – for f13.50. After this the price will increase to f15 for adults or f5 for under-13s.
Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10am. No tickets will be available to buy on festival day.
Over the years, Middlesbrough Music Live, organised by Ten Feet Tall and Middlesbrough Council, has built up a fantastic reputation.
Judith Croft, Middlesbrough Council’s festival and events manager, said: «We want to see as many people down there on the day as possible.»
Tickets are available from Middlesbrough Town Hall Box Office, www.seetickets.com, www.ticketweb.co.uk, or at HMV stores.
